Basic Info
Name:notaconvert
Bio
Character: Vala Mal Doran

Series: Stargate SG-1

Version: Season 10

Age: She's never said her age, and she was once possessed by a Goa'uld, a parasitic alien species with the ability (among other things) to prolong an ordinary human's life nearly indefinitely. However, Vala's stories of her life suggest that she was only a host for a short period of time, so she's probably not that much older than she looks. 30's or 40's perhaps?

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: A slim woman with long black hair, Vala can be found in a variety of outfits, depending as much on her mood as on her current role. She's been a liar, thief, con artist, and sex goddess in the past, and, as a result, knows how to dress for any occasion. She also likes changing around her hairstyle, sometimes braiding, sometimes wearing it in pigtails, and sometimes just leaving it straight.

Personality: Two words: extremely spunky. Vala is almost always positive, even in the face of potential death. She has a lot of energy, and tends to act impulsively. Fortunately, she's also very quick-witted, so most of the time, she can handle any trouble she can get into. She also has no problem using her feminine attributes to convince men to see things her way. Her attitude is playful, and she tends to tease people, although it's usually fairly obvious that she's joking. Despite her friendly nature, however, she hasn't had many true friends, and she has spent much of her life running away from her problems and only pursuing short-term or distant relationships. She's also tends to flirt.

Abilities/Weaponry: Although she looks a bit on the scrawny side, Vala's got a lot of fighting spirit and can hold her own against opponents that look like they should walk all over her. An unprepared opponent expecting an easy victory would quickly find himself flat on his stomach, with one arm twisted behind him, and aching in some ~very~ sensitive areas. Vala's also carrying a zat'nik'tel (usually dubbed "zat gun") which fires beams of electrical energy. As a general rule, one shot stuns, two shots is lethal.

Weaknesses: As mentioned before, Vala is extremely impulsive and will rush into a dangerous situation with absolutely no plan for how she's going to get back out again. She has probably only managed to survive this long because she's so adaptable. She also has a daughter who is bent on making the entire universe worship a species known as the Ori on threat of death. This is obviously something that Vala is opposed to, and she can't help but feel a little bit guilty over the millions her daughter is slaughtering across the galaxy, even though none of it is her fault.

History: Vala used to be a villager on an (as yet) unspecified planet, until she was captured and possessed by the Goa'uld Qetesh, who was also known as an Egyptian sex goddess millenia before the present time. Vala remained Qetesh's host for an unspecified period of time, ruling over multiple worlds until Qetesh was finally removed by her body by a group of Tok'ra, an offshoot of the Goa'uld that believed in peaceful coexistance with humans instead of enslavement.

After Vala was freed from Qetesh's influence, she became quite a rogue, moving from planet to planet, stealing ships (and anything else of value she could get her hands on), and generally just looking out for her own interests. It was during this time that she met Daniel Jackson of SG-1, aboard the Earth starship Prometheus. Vala had promised to provide a ship to the criminal group known as the Lucian Alliance, and she had decided that the Prometheus was that ship. She managed to single-handedly strand everyone on the Prometheus on a derelict starship as she made off with their warship. Everyone, that is, except for Daniel. After multiple (hilarious) struggles, plenty of flirting, and even shooting each other once or twice, Daniel finally managed to take Vala prisoner and regain control of the ship. However, when the rest of the crew arrived to board the ship, Vala managed to break free and escape.

Vala met Daniel again a year later, when she tried to con him into finding an ancient stash of treasure on Earth and give her half of it. Instead of the treasure, Daniel and Vala found trouble. The two of them, utilizing what they believed to be an alien communications device, ended up with their consciousnesses transferred to the bodies of a married couple in another galaxy. While there, the villagers believed Vala (or rather, the woman she was occupying) to be possessed, and a religious leader ordered her burned to death. With Daniel unable to do anything to help her, Vala was consumed by flames.

She died.

And then she was brought back to life by a Prior, a human that was given special powers by the Ori to spread their religion. The Prior took Vala and Daniel to an Ori city, where they were pressed to convert to the religion of Origin. When they refused, they were returned to the village to be burned to death. As the flames surrounded them, the remainder of the SG-1 team managed to disable the communications device, and Daniel and Vala were returned to their own bodies just seconds before they would have died. Their hosts, however, were not nearly as lucky.

Vala stayed with SG-1 for a short time, as they learned more of the Ori's plans. They eventually encountered a "supergate" in construction, through which the Ori were planning to bring a fleet of warships into their galaxy. At great risk to herself, Vala managed to destroy the supergate, but she was pulled into the Ori galaxy as a result, where she remained for the next nine months.

While in the Ori galaxy, Vala was impregnated mysteriously (and without doing any of the necessary deeds), got married to avoid suspicion, and eventually gave birth to a girl she named Adria, who grew up at an incredible rate. She learned the that child had been created by the Ori to lead their armies, and had much of their knowledge and power. As the Ori's followers finally managed to complete a supergate and bring a first wave of ships (and Vala) into her home galaxy, Daniel managed to help Vala escape. She returned to Earth with him, where she asked to join SG-1 and fight against the Ori... and hopefully, find some way to stop her daughter from murdering billions of people.

And shortly thereafter is when she stepped through the stargate on a routine mission with SG-1, and found herself in Paixao.
